UNITE HERE Philadelphia!

UNITE HERE is the union that welcomes you to Philadelphia. We serve the food, hold the door, carry the bags, clean the rooms, wash the laundry, and sew the uniforms. We are among the largest unions in Philadelphia, representing 8,000 hotel, food service, cafeteria, laundry, and clothing workers. Three of our largest locals include:

UNITE HERE Local 274 – representing 4,000 private sector hotel and food service workers. We work at the stadiums, universities, cafeterias, and at hotels throughout Philadelphia region.

UNITE HERE Local 634 – representing 2,200 public sector school cafeteria employees and noon-time aides working for the Philadelphia School District.

UNITE HERE Local 54 – representing 800 workers at Harrah’s Chester Casino, in addition to 15,000 gaming workers in and around Atlantic City, NJ.

Various other UNITE HERE locals represent our proud members in laundries, the PA convention center, and clothing and textile manufacturing.

We have gone through some changes recently. Some of our local unions used to be under the umbrella of the Philadelphia Joint Board. However, the UNITE HERE Philadelphia Joint Board no longer exists. Its leaders resigned their positions and left our members behind. These locals are now independent of the Joint Board, and are directly affiliated with UNITE HERE. Together, we will build one of the strongest unions in Philadelphia.
